It was quite an experience being part of the effort to select the timber that would be used to replace L'Odyssée's rotten timbers. We needed oak planks for the hull and also to replace damaged frames. The oak was purchased from 'Goldenwood' in Niksic who obtained the wood from Spacva in the North-East part of Croatia, along the banks of the river Sava. I made three visits to Niksic with Dusko and Nedjo to select the planks. It was important to find planks without too many knots. The total amount required was 10 cubic metres. Every visit required us to drink Rakija with the supplier!
